Creating and Editing Billing Households

Creating and Editing Billing Households

Billing Households allow you to combine any Clients or Accounts that you want to bill as a single unit. If your fee schedule(s) use cliff or blended tiers, the total of the household’s accounts are used to determine which tiers apply.

If you wish to household clients only for Performance reporting purposes, see Householding Clients for more details.

Creating a Billing Household

  1. Navigate to Run Business > Billing.
  2. Click Create Billing Household from the top controls.
  3. Select the Clients and Accounts you want to include in the Billing Household. You can mix and match. Use the drop-down in the upper left to switch the view between Clients and Accounts. Adding a client adds the current accounts of the client and automatically includes future opened accounts into the billing group.
  4. Enter a Household Name.
  5. Set your Household Billing settings:
    • Performance: Leave this toggle enabled if you want this group to also be considered a Household within the Manage Clients section. Individual Accounts cannot be part of a Performance Household. If you selected individual Accounts, you will need to deselect the Performance toggle to be able to save. Note: Performance Households report householded performance from date of Household creation going forward, regardless of account history.
    • Single Invoice: Compile all account invoices for this household into a single PDF instead of separate PDFs for each account.
    • Pay by Check: If enabled in Firm Profile, use this toggle to stop all auto fee debiting for this household. The household will be responsible for paying fees directly to the firm.
  6. Click Save.
