Generating a New IPS for Portfolio Changes

Generating a New IPS for Portfolio Changes

When clients update or edit their questionnaire on the client portal, a new Investment Policy Statement (IPS) will be generated, which the client is prompted to approve. This feature, if enabled, will require clients to “confirm” their changes before applying any new model assignments to portfolio(s), and populate a client’s Document center with the new IPS to highlight applied changes. Additionally, firms will be able to require client approval of newly generated IPS documents in order to apply model recommendation changes.

Enabling New IPS Generation

This feature is disabled by default. To enable it, from within the Portfolio Manager:

  1. Navigate to Run Business > Firm Profile > Client Portal.
  2. Scroll to Generate New IPS for Portfolio Changes. (See Client Portal Settings for a complete description of all settings on this page.)
  3. Select Yes.
  4. Optional: To require a DocuSign digital signature of the new IPS from the end client, select the Require End Client Approval? checkbox. If left unchecked, the new IPS will be generated and filed but the end client will not be required to sign it.
  5. At the top or bottom of the page, click Save to confirm your changes.

End Client Experience

When enabled, the end-client user will see options to Edit Portfolio or Change Model from the Overview tab.

Note: The ability for an end-client user to Change Model is a firm-specific setting determined during your onboarding. This option, which allows clients to select their desired model from a drop-down list, may be disabled for your firm.
  • Edit Portfolio: The client is returned to their original investment questionnaire where they can modify answers as they see fit. If the modified answers result in a model change, they are prompted to confirm the change when they finish the questionnaire.
  • Change Model: The client is taken to a drop-down to select the investment model to use.

If Require End Client Approval? has been set in Client Portal Settings, the end client is prompted to Confirm & Sign the new IPS. They are taken to DocuSign to complete the signing process.

If Require End Client Approval? has not been set, the end client is simply prompted to confirm the changes to their model.

In either case, once completed, the new IPS is available in the end client document vault within 5 to 10 minutes.
