Transferring into an Open TD Ameritrade Account

To perform an account transfer into an already opened TD Ameritrade account:

Enabling Account Transfer

By default, this option is disabled. Follow the steps below to enable either for all clients or per-client.

Enabling Account Transfer for All Clients

  1. Navigate to Run Business > Firm Profile > OWM.
  2. Under Sections, select Transfer Asset.

Enabling Account Transfer for Individual Clients

  1. Navigate to Run Business > User Management > End-Client Access.
  2. Click Settings for the client you want to adjust.
  3. Under Access, select Transfer Assets.
  4. Click Save.

Performing an Account Transfer

Once an account has been opened at TDA, the Transfer tab in the Client Portal will allow users to transfer assets using an existing TDA account.

  1. Navigate to the Transfers tab.

  2. In the Account Transfers section, select the Account to transfer into.
  3. Select the type of firm to transfer from.

  4. Click Next.
  5. Complete the Request New Account Transfer form and click Next when complete.
  6. Select whether to initiate a Full Transfer or Partial Transfer.
    • For Partial transfers, select the specific securities to fund the account.
  7. Click Next.
  8. When prompted, enter the Social Security Number and click Next.
  9. Carefully review the summary of the requested transfer. Click Sign Now to launch the e-signature process with Docusign.

Once the documents for the transfer have been digitally signed, the transfer request will be submitted.
