Obtaining Orion API Credentials

Note: The directions here are provided as a courtesy to AdvisorEngine CRM users for enabling the Orion Unattended Asset Import and the Orion Contact Push integrations. The steps below document Orion system functions and are subject to change without AdvisorEngine’s knowledge. Please contact Orion support if you have any issues with the following process.

To obtain your Orion API credentials:

  1. Within Orion Connect, launch the Manage Users 1 app.
  2. Click Advisors on the right.
  3. Click Actions > New User.
  4. Enter the following in the corresponding fields:
    • User ID: api_[yourFirmName]_AdvisorEngine
    • Last Name: AdvisorEngine
    • Email: Set an email that can be used to reset the password if needed.
  5. Click Profiles.
  6. Select the role API/Integration Role (Not Editable).
  7. Click Save and Show me the temp password. Store the temp password somewhere safe.
  8. In a new browser tab, navigate to login.orionadvisor.com.
  9. Enter the User ID created in step 4 and the temp password from step 7.
  10. Create a new password for the API user.

1 Your User Role must have the Maintain Logins permission enabled.

You can now use these credentials to activate the Orion Unattended Asset Import or the Orion Contact Push features within AE CRM.
