Grouping Grids

Grids may be shown in a view that groups together like data from a particular column.

For example, you could group all Actions by Record Name to see how many Actions each Record has or group all Records by State of Residence to see which clients are in which states.

Grouping Grid Contents by a Column

To group by the contents of a Grid column, click the column header you want to group by and drag it to the bar above where it says “Drag a column header and drop it here to group by that column”. The column name appears in the header bar and the contents of the Grid become grouped. The following options provide further control of the view:

  • Use the expand and collapse buttons to expand or collapse your groups for visibility.
  • Use the Expand all/Collapse all toggle in the header bar to expand or collapse all groups simultaneously.
  • Use and on the group column name in the header bar to change between ascending and descending sort for the groups.
  • You can create groupings within groups by repeating the process with another column header.
Note: Depending on the size of the groups, some groupings may span several pages of a Grid. Pay attention to your Display Items selection and the grid page buttons when collapsing groups to be aware of further data on other pages.

Removing a Grouping

Click the on the column name in the header bar to remove a column grouping.
